30 Years of Low Floor Buses in London

30 Years of Low Floor Buses in London

London Transport's first low-floor buses went into service in 1994, setting off a transformation in the accessibility of the entire network that was completed just ten years later.  For passengers who found the traditional design of vehicle with two or three steps in the doorways difficult or impossible to use, such as those with shopping and small children (especially with a folding baby-buggy), older people and certainly wheelchair users, bus travel suddenly became a practical proposition.

Andrew Braddock, who was responsible for access and mobility issues for LT and TfL will explain the genesis and outcome of the London Low-floor Bus Project.
